A discipleship question

Recently on vacation I was meeting with my mentor and friend Jeff Miller and he asked me this question:

"If you met a new Christian who had never been discipled and you were given 5 days to instill in them everything they would ever learn about being a disciple, what would you share with them? You can only share one idea/value/teaching per day with them. They will never have another chance to learn from anyone else."

What would your 5 be?

  1. My first thought is that poor guy is screwed, after all this time what do I really know?

I think my five, in no particular order, would look something like this:
    1. Enjoy the wonder of God, you don't have to figure everything out... nor can you.
    2. Develop a set of rhythms that allow you to really get to hear the heart of God.
    3. Worry about the inside of your cup more than the outside (Luke 11:39).
    4. James.
    5. Pursuing Jesus and listening to the Holy Spirit will make you look foolish, but are far more important than anything else you will do in this life.
